Web-Database Technology

This site has beed developed using:

Plain old HTML and some JavaScript (see www.webGISdev.com)
PHP (PHP Hypertext Preprocessor) for database access and dynamic HTML processing... it's powerful, it's fast, and it's free! (see www.php.net)
All data is stored in a MySQL database, administered over the web with phpMyAdmin... two more great Open Source products (see www.MySQL.com)

Optimal Viewing

This site is optimized for Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser (i.e. not tested with Netscape Navigator, Mozilla, Opera, or any other browser) and works best with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher. At 800 x 600, some items may not be visible. To resolve, try any combination of the following:

maximize your browser window if it's not already full screen size (double-click on its title bar)
increase screen resolution if possible (right click on desktop, select Properties, then Settings)
decrease the size or number of toolbars (View > Toolbars and View > Toolbars > Customize)
move the toolbars, address field, and menu bar into one row (next to each other instead of below each other)
decrease the display size of the text (View > Text Size > ...)

Initial site developed while learning PHP & MySQL, Jan & Feb 2003, updated here and there since then but in particular during Sep & Oct 2005 when the Co-op Project module was developed.
Connection to Google Earth implemented with excellent research, direction, and database updates provided by Sarah Galloway, Aaron Gillard, and Allison Laforet as the central part of their GIS Co-op Project (P264 in 2006)
Research and compilation of historical GIS Co-op Project data was performed by Monika Tulipan and Andy Lancaster (under contract with the Geomatics Institute).
All other databases consolidated by Anthony Bonnici with support of the college as a special project, Fall 2004.
Hosting services provided by IXwebhosting.com - their Gold Plan includes PHP, 3 MySQL databases, 3 Postgre databases, unlimited disk space, six domains, 30 sub-domains, etc, etc.
